BEAR HUNTS
Howey Bay Resort has sole access to 5,000 acres of prime bear hunting territory, accessible by road and water. All hunting locations are separated by a minimum distance of 1 mile.  This past year we hunted the unit for the second time since 1995. Our 90% success rate accounted for bears ranging from 200 to in excess of 500 lbs.

You will have the opportunity to choose a bow or rifle hunt with water or land access (depending on site availability).

We prepare all sites in advance and commence baiting at least one month prior to your arrival. All sites are prepared to accept ground blinds or tree stands. You must bring your own tree stand.

Those who choose to hunt via land access should bring a 4-wheeler as roads are narrow and rough in parts of the hunting area.

Upon your arrival at Howey Bay Resort you will check in to your cabin, process your license and receive an orientation on your bait sites, bear habits, area geography and hunting procedures. If time permits we will then take you to your hunting locations for travel and on-site orientation. Generally there is no hunting on the first day of your arrival.

All our planning and efforts are aimed at you having an enjoyable, safe and successful hunting experience.
